My name is Preston Hazard. I am a filmmaker, video editor, photographer, journalist, graphic animator, musician, and sound designer from Harwinton, Connecticut.
My interest in media began while I was still in elementary school. Inspired by the story driven imagery in my grandfather's National Geographic magazines, I picked up a 35mm point and shoot camera and began photographing everything I could. Not long after, around 2010, I was lucky enough to receive a Canon 5D Mark II. That camera opened an entirely new world for me; videography.
Since then, I have spent well over a decade developing my skills in filmmaking, photography, editing, animation, music production, and digital media. What started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong passion and, eventually, a career.
My professional career began at seventeen years old when my animated television series, Fundamentally Cynical, was picked up by Amazon and streamed for two seasons. Creating that series taught me far more than animation alone. I was responsible for nearly every aspect of production, including writing, directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, original music, voice recording, character design, commercial animation, digital marketing, scheduling, and working with voice actors and collaborators and even celebrity guests. Through that experience I also developed a strong understanding of television production standards, broadcast formats, and the complete production process from concept to final delivery. The series was later described by Forbes as a "cult series."
Music has always been another major part of my creative life. In addition to filmmaking, I write, record, and produce my own original music, compose for my projects, and design sound.
Wanting to continue building on those skills, I enrolled at CSB Media Arts (formerly the Connecticut School of Broadcasting), where I expanded my knowledge of professional video production, Adobe Creative Cloud, industry workflows, broadcast terminology, post production, and television standards.
Following graduation, I joined Full Power Radio (WDRC AM/FM) in Bloomfield, Connecticut, as a live broadcast intern. There I assisted with setting up, operating, and breaking down both remote and in studio broadcasts while working directly alongside on air talent and engineering staff. The experience introduced me to the fast paced world of live broadcasting, where attention to detail, teamwork, communication, technical troubleshooting, and the ability to remain calm under pressure were essential every day.
Today, I continue to build on that experience as an intern with the three time Emmy winning documentary studio Seedling TV. Working alongside an experienced production team, I assist with filming, editing, color correction, sound design, and post production on documentaries, podcasts, and promotional content while contributing to deadline driven production workflows. The internship has strengthened my ability to collaborate within a professional creative team while continuing to refine my technical and storytelling skills.
Outside of my professional work, I've filmed television commercials, covered high school and collegiate athletics, photographed concerts and public figures, and contribute photography to Getty Images. My work has taken me from documentary filmmaking and commercial production to sports media, photography, animation, and digital storytelling, giving me experience across nearly every stage of modern media production.
